KALIZMA (ex. Odysseia, Minona)
Yacht type: PowerKalizma is a classic yacht that has been beautifully restored. She was used in both the World Wars, and was bought (as Odysseia that time) by famouse actor Richard Burton for Elizabeth Taylor, and named after their children, Kate, Liza and Maria (Ka-Liz-Ma). Built in 1906 (named initially Minona), she was lovingly restored in 2020 and can accommodate 10 guests in 5 cabins (3 doubles and 2 Twin).
Designed by G.L. Watson and built by Ramage & Ferguson, The Kalizma was one of the first steam powered yachts to have electric lighting. She served as Auxiliary Patrol Yacht during WW1, after which she competed in races in the UK and USA. During WW2, she was responsible for saving lives of crewmen from over 1100 vessels that were downed in conflict before being discharged of her duties in 1946.
Richard Burton is said to have bought the KALIZMA as a gift to Elizabeth Taylor after she earned an Academy award for her performance in "Who's afraid of Virginia Wolf" and it is on this vessel that he presented her with a 69 carat diamond that was subsequently named the Taylor-Burton Diamond.
The KALIZMA's interior is cozy, with a large salon that boasts a comfortable sofa and armchairs around a coffee table and facing a TV. Other chairs are placed here and there in this area, allowing for separate conversations as well as large groups. A large dining room seats 10/12 guests in comfort and style.
She has both indoor and outdoor dining options. She also has wireless internet, televisions, DVD players, and a wide selection of books and movies for guests to choose from.
Her 2020 restoration upgraded her components to modern standards whilst preserving her Edwardian style. She has also been retrofitted with bells and whistles.
Kalizma offers two modern tenders and wide choice of water toys, i.e. 2 x Yamaha waverunners / jetskis, 2 x water skis, 1 x sea bob, 1 x sofa ride (3 person), 6 x Snorkel & fins sets, 3 x dive gear sets.
