Eastern Mediterranean - Luxury Yacht Charter

Aegean Islands: Chios, Ikaria, Lesvos, Limnos, Samos, Samothraki and Thasos

Aegean Islands

Chios, Ikaria, Lesvos, Limnos, Samos, Samothraki and Thasos

On a Greece yacht charter vacation through The Aegean Sea and Sporades, you’ll find islands with a wealth of natural beauty and artistic culture. Predictable winds and visual navigation make it an excellent area for a relaxed bareboat yacht charter holiday. With fine sandy beaches, pine-perfumed hills, ancient ruins and abundant sea life, this sailing area exudes a sense of exploration and independence.

Greece’s Aegean Islands are less visited than the Cyclades, which makes them the perfect place for a less crowded yacht charter holiday, particularly if you’re interested in art, culture and history. Additionally, the fertile countryside is simply stunning. Some of the Aegean features include:

Samos - Is a lush mountainous island, skirted by forested hills. Samos is the acclaimed birthplace of Pythagoras and an important Hellenic cultural centre.

Lesvos - Is the centre of artistic and philosophical achievement and creativity. It remains the spawning ground for innovative ideas in arts and politics.

Samothraki – Is a wild and alluring island, still relatively untouched. Somothraki has made quite an impression with walkers and trekkers.

Sporades- Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonnisos

The Northern Sporades on the eastern side of Greece are a very popular yacht charter area with some of the prettiest, thickly wooded, islands in the Mediterranean. The Sporades have not managed to escape the hordes quite as well as other charter grounds in Greece. On a bareboat sailboat yacht charter, you’ll still be able to find fantastic anchorages, though they may be slightly busier. Skiathos is tagged the Mykynos of the Sporades, and Skopelos is following hot on its trail. Although crowded, the beaches are fantastic. Alonnisos, having escaped most people’s attention, is an absolute paradise for sailing yacht charters. Alonnisos is serene and green. The water surrounding the island has been declared to be the cleanest in the Aegean and acclaimed as a marine park. This is a fantastic place to stop on your sailing vacation, and enjoy the natural surroundings.

As one of the most well known yacht charter grounds in the Mediterranean, Greece and the Aegean and Sporades offer all the main types of yacht charters such as motor, sailing, bare boat charter, skippered, crewed yachts, catamaran, power boat, sailboat, luxury yachts and off-course the ever increasing super yacht charter.

Like most of the Mediterranean, the Greece and Aegean yacht charter season generally runs from April to the end of October. The summer season in July and August is the hottest and tends to have strong meltemi winds blowing frequently. This is also the high season as far as numbers go. The best time to charter a yacht is probably either of the shoulder seasons (April-May and September-October), each side of the main summer season, as the temperatures are the most comfortable, the wind lighter (yet reliable) and the onshore tourists have yet to arrive in their largest numbers.
