After the Roman conquest of the island in 230 BC, many Emperors visited, most prominently Emperor Nero, who came to a Temple to Zeus here. Much of a small headland to the north of the resort is taken up by a Byzantine fortress. The fortress was subsequently fortified further by the Venetians, and survived sieges from the Ottoman Turks in the 16th century. Today parts of the fortress's walls can be seen from the coastal road around the headland. This small green covered piece of land, with olive trees and vineyards has got an area of only 5 square kilometers. Its only one harbor is called Agrapidia and the villages of the island consist of low houses and vineyards. But, here in this island you will find some of the most beautiful beaches in the Ionian Sea, like the exotic beach of Paradise. Paradise beach is unique in Antipaxos, because of its white gold silky sand beach outside and inside the water, the cleanest and light blue colors, and of course of the brightest blue Eptanisian Sea. A memorable day today with a great BBQ, long sessions of water leisure and great swimming! Later today we head to Paxos. The legend says that Paxos Island was formed when Poseidon, God of the sea, severed the south tip of Corfu with one mighty blow of his trident and dragged it south to create an idyllic retreat for his beloved wife Amphitriti… With an area of 25 sq km. and a population of 2500 inhabitants this green island covered, mostly of olive and cypress trees, is the smallest in the Ionian sea. It lies only 7 nautical miles from Corfu island 30 nautical miles from the harbor of Corfu city and 12 nautical miles from the beautiful city of Parga, of mainland Epirus which is situated opposite the island. The natural beauty of Paxos attracts dozens of yachts giving the island a cosmopolitan air. White impressive rocks sit vertically along the whole western site of the island. There, are also situated the famous blue caves. According to the legend, in the blue cave of Ypapanti, which is 1200m long and leads to the centre of the island, was situated the marble palace of Poseidon and Amphitriti.Gaios is the capital of Paxos island and took the name of a student of Apostel Paul who introduced Christianity on the island, died and was buried in there. The small channel which leads to the village city of Gaios impresses every one with the natural fjord that is formed at its entrance by two small islets, the isled of Panagia (Blessed Virgin) and the isled of Agios Nicolas. The inhabitants of Paxos are mostly working on the cultivation of the olive, fishing and tourism. The capital of Paxos is Gaios a picturesque village built around a port which is protected by two small islands Agios Nikolas and Panagia. On the Northern side is the village of Lakka and on the east side is the very charming village of Loggos. Day 5, Paxos - Sparti in Meganisi

Twenty four small and satellite islands including Sparti, Meganisi surround the main island of Lefkas. We will anchor off this beautiful isolated island…This is indeed a relaxing tranquil village on the relatively undeveloped Epirus coast of north-west Greece, between Parga and the region’s capital Igoumenitsa, 55 miles from the airport at Preveza; Sparti is a charming village with calm waterfront area, to admire views lazily from the decks, across the two small islets in the bay. None of these sparkling beaches will disappoint you, with lots of shallow water and a peaceful atmosphere, only the sound of our jet skis to interrupt and some great music from the laid cafes ashore and from our decks. If you are in the mood for a diving session our tenders can take you to Agios Nicolas, to the Private Scuba Diving Center and have the fantastic opportunity to get the most important worldwide recognized license, under the supervision of well qualified instructors. If you instead prefer a lazy time ashore, we can arrange for refreshments at Esperides Resort, a place of leisure and fun on the slopes of a green hill overlooking the sea. This is located only 500 m from the traditional village of Spartochori and approximately 6 km from the enchanting port of Vathi, offering visitors the luxury of tranquility, but also direct access to the vivid island life. Later on board, enjoy the vivid colours of the Ionian horizon and scenery, from your decks whilst tasting some fantastic dishes with local fresh food, by your Chefs.

Or, alternatively Lefkada (Nydri)

We may instead head south of Lefkada, the fourth biggest island of the Ionian Sea. Lefkada is situated between Corfu and Kefalonia, very close to the southwest coast of Akarnania. There is a bridge which connects the island with the main country. Nydri is a picturesque village, one of the first areas in which tourism was developed, known for the beautiful and immaculately clean sandy beach, stretching out for kilometers. Thick vegetation with olive trees, pines and cypresses provide a framework for the carefully constructed tourist infrastructure. The orderliness and cleanliness help to maintain exceptionally civilized surroundings. The region's beauties are not just limited to its sandy beaches and to its cosmopolitan character, though it has many important historical, natural as well as cultural monuments to show, both along the coast and inland Nydri is the birth place of our poet Aristotle Valaoritis with his house retained as a monument and Scorpio, the island of Aristotelis Onassis. In the morning we will up anchored off the mythical island of Ithaca. Named after the son of the sea-god ‘Poseidon’ and home to Odysseus ruler of the kingdom of Ithaca whose heroic exploits were described in Homer’s Odyssey. This is an island not to be missed. Vathy is Ithaca's capital with some two thousand inhabitants and the elongated. The town itself is a picture of quintessential Greece with tavernas and cafes spilling out onto the town square around lining the harbour's edge. Vathy is also known with the same name of the island, Ithaca. Built amphitheatrically around a deep and sheltered bay, it has been identified with the Homeric harbor of Phorkys. At the entrance of the harbor lies the islet of Lazaretto; as its name implies it was once a lazaret (quarantine house) and on it there are also ruins of Venetian gaols. The port was protected by two small fortresses, built in 1805 during the period of the second French rule, those of Kastro and Loutsa, ruins of which can still be seen at its entrance. Your soft shoes will protect you during strolls. It's worth visiting the restored cathedral dedicated to the Presentation of the Virgin and the house in which the hero of Greek War of Independence, Odysseus Androutsos, was born. The Archaeological Museum houses a collection of Proto-geometric pottery, votive vases, bronze object, coins, and more. Some rare books, among them the only edition of the Odyssey and the Iliad in Japanese, and the entire works of St. Athanasios dating from 1686 are in the library of Cultural Centre of Ithaca. Moon is getting stronger and the light is perfect for a great soiree on board in sounds of your favorite music...

Day 7, Ithaki - Fiscardo Cephalonia

A lazy morning today anchored off Fiscardo. Fiscardo is in a beautiful harbour on the Northern tip of Cephalonia. Of the approximate 365 villages on this large and diverse island, Fiscardo is unique in that it was left virtually undamaged during the great earthquake of 1953, which ruined most of the historic buildings on Cephalonia. Pretty pebble bays are either overlooked or located within a short walk of all our properties in Fiscardo. In addition many beautiful coves are to be discovered by our tenders. Further afield, but certainly worth to visit, is Kefalonia’s most famous beach the scenically stunning Myrtos. Mythical waters to swim and another great day ahead of us for water leisure and tender rides. When you are in the mood, prepare for a long walk ashore Fiskardo, popular town in yachting, favourite for the daily and night routine it offers. Don’t forget to taste local liquors ashore. At night the town takes on an entirely different perspective. The lights, the old buildings, cafés, bars and restaurants all combine to provide a magical and eclectic atmosphere. Of all the villages on Cephalonia, Fiscardo stands out as having a unique ambience, especially on a summer evening. At night Fiscardo takes on an entirely different perspective. The lights, the old buildings, cafés, bars and restaurants all combine to provide a magical Mediterranean atmosphere. If you feel like tasting local cuisine, lobster spaghetti at Vasso’s is the place. Whilst on board, your crew will pamper you with cocktails at the Jacuzzi area.

Day 8, Fiskardo - Skinari Blue Caves Zakynthos - Zakynthos town

In the morning wake up anchored off the coast of the beautiful island of Zakynthos, in unique waters of Skinari to visit the Blue Caves. Zakynthos is also called Zante and it is the southernmost of the Ionian Islands and the third largest of the group. Later we steam to the west, to visit the Ship wreck, a unique highlight with mythical waters to take breakfast and enjoy fantastic swimming… Here's the story... In 1980, a freighter was pursued by the Greek Navy. The crew was suspected of smuggling contraband and the navy chased the ship through the Ionian Sea. Allegedly there was 'wine, tobacco and women' on board and the chase came to an abrupt end when the ship ran aground in stormy weather on the coast to the north of the island at Porto Vromi… Later we head south to anchor off the secluded and un-spoilt bay of Marathias in Zakynthos Island. The wonderful pebbled beach offers a spectacular rocky landscape to captivate you. The hills are covered with lush greenery and vast plantation. The tall pine trees provide good shade in the hot summer days. The crystal and calm waters offer an exotic atmosphere. Due to the long distance from the town, it doesn't get really crowded. This is a great starting point to visit the turtle-island and admire the loggerhead turtles (Carreta - Caretta). This is the species nesting laying eggs in southern shores of Zakynthos like Laganas and Kalamaki. In the evening female turtles can be seen resting in the shallow waters. Noise and lights can disorientate them and make them uncertain as to where to lay their eggs. Thus there are designated areas of the beaches set aside for the turtles. The sea turtle Caretta-Caretta is endangered Mediterranean marine species. This turtle can reach a size of 1.2 meters in length and a weight of 100kg. The Greek and international legislation have adopted series of agreements and measures to protect the turtle, and have also established the National Marine Park of Zakynthos. Enjoy sumptuous meals on board and view pictures you’ve taken today from all amazing places in Zante.

Day 9, Zakynthos town - Laganas Zakynthos - Katakolon

Today our options would be to Laganas for breakfast or Kyllini in Peloponesse. In Lagana there are wide sandy beaches where you may cross sea turtles, go snorkelling or enjoy some scuba diving session. This is a famous area for its unspoiled natural environment, home to the endangered specie of sea turtle called Caretta-Caretta which goes there during their reproduction period.
Or, alternatively, a long day may combine water and land entertainment… We may later cross to Katakolon port, which could be a starting point for a shore tour to Ancient Olympia, the place where the Olympian flame starts its trip to the world before the Olympic Games. If instead children would prefer some sliders for the day and a spa session for parents, Grecotel Olympian Riviera is the place. There is no modern equivalent for ancient Olympia - a religious and at the same time an athletic centre. Men travelled from every part of the ancient World to compete in these Games and the winners became legends. Over 50,000 of spectators came to watch the Games every four years and support the athletes. The area was buried under the alluvial deposits of the two rivers until its discovery in 1852. Since then, thousands of people visit it every year and admire its wealth and importance in antiquity. A visit to the original site of the Olympic Games is a moving experience. Running in the original stadium is an unforgettable one. And every two years the lighting of the Olympic flame for the next Olympics will bring back memories from this day tour. There is so much to tell when you are back on board thrilled from this experience... Nestle onboard, enjoy lunch whilst we will head to Pilos. This is a beautiful town built in a great spot southern of Peloponnese. If you feel like having dinner ashore, we may do arrangements in Costa Navarino, an exquisite resort with a growing reputation for its facilities and cuisine. Tonight, the moon is almost full and the sea is shimmering at night to excite senses.

Day 10, Gerolimenas Peloponesse

After a long cruise at night you will wake up in a different landscape than Ionion, to remind of older ages, Gerolimenas in region of ‘Mani’. The isolated aspect of this beautiful area, Mani, combined with the independent nature of its inhabitants meant that some traditions developed separately from the rest of the Peloponnese and Greece so that a distinct society made its mark on the landscape. To this day the architecture of the area is famed for the tower houses and fortified family dwellings from the period of the Ottoman occupation of Greece. Τhe name, which means "Old Harbour", is thought to derive from the ancient Ieros Limin, meaning "Sacred Harbour". One of the remotest settlements in the Peloponnese, until the 1970s it was reached mainly by boat. In the past it was a major fishing center, and featured substantial infrastructure such as a shipyard, ice supplies, and a fish market. Today the main industry is tourism. According to the 2001 census its population was 55 inhabitants. You may put soft shoes and let exploration begin. Enjoy ‘greek coffee’ in ‘cafeneion’, the traditional coffee Greek shops, where mostly men gather to spend time with philosophy for life. Tower houses made of large stones, acres of pasture land, clear blue waters and flavours which are typical of Greece, all complete a set of awesome images emitting ounces of natural beauty and tranquillity. It is highly likely that you will feel as if located at a fishing village of Sicily. Its superb setting by the sea shores where the Ionian Sea meets the Aegean Sea connotes to scenes from a movie where people walk barefoot letting the waves tinkle their tows, where people indulge in exquisite local specialties and the only thing they “wear” is a permanent face of carefree pleasure. Have an enjoyable walk along the narrow alleys of the village and admire the distinctive cultural identity and the unique architectural style of the stone tower houses. In the afternoon, the imposing rock at the cape of Cavo Grosso will beautifully complement the best sunsets you have ever seen. Shelter on board to enjoy a tantalising experience of tasting the sea food delicacies and Greek dishes between activities. If you feel like experience the volume of surroundings in a local resort, we may arrange in Kyrimai boutique Hotel for refreshments in an environment of stones…

Day 11, Gerolimenas – Kapsali Kithyra

This trip is a blessed combination of a cultural experience and a luxury cruise to historical places, offering rather the most attractive waters in planet… Kythera, historically part of the Ionion islands, has been known since ancient times as the Isle of Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love, who, during the Theogony of Hesiodus, was captured on the shores of Kythera, when, Cronus (Saturn) tore off Uranus' genital organs and threw them to her. This is the island to combine highlights for any taste, ancient monuments, monasteries, caves, castles due to its rich history. Since ancient times, until the mid 19th century, Kythira had been a crossroads of merchants, sailors, and conquerors. As such, it has had a long and varied history and has been influenced by many civilizations and cultures. You will feel pleased by the experience of swimming and water toys leisure here… The land will enchant your senses as well… Enjoy breakfast at the east part of the island, and later great tender rides to Kaladi, one of the most popular beaches of the island. This is a pebbled beach with crystal clear turquoise waters on the eastern part of the island, right next to Palaiopolis. A few only miles southern we can approach Firi Ammos, near the village of Kalamos. It is a long beach with red sand and pebbles, and in the past it has won the Golden Starfish award for its natural beauty and the purity of the water. We may arrange by car transfer to the opposite side of the island at west, to visit the Chytra, One of the most impressive parts of the island is the skerry of Chytra or else Avgo (egg), located at a short distance across the harbor of Kapsali. On its south side there is a cave with enchanting colors both in the exterior and on the seabed. At the end of the cave there is a haven for seals. Going up on the isle requires attention, as the ground is steep and rocky. The rare and protected species of falcons (Varvaki) built their nests on these steep rocks. Also, the island’s local “flower”, "Sempreviva", blooms in this difficult terrain, handpicked each June by experienced locals only, due to the difficult passages! There, by local boat you may enter the cave. Close by this side of the island, there is another highlight. Going down the dell of Milopotamos and the “Fonissa” waterfall, situated on the rocks, among the plane trees and the ivy are the 22 watermills. The mills operated by water power from the river that still flows abundant. The water would run in a single trench that passed by all mills. Each watermill consisted of three main areas. The area where the mill was grinding the harvest, the room(s) where the workers would live and sleep and finally the space where they kept the donkeys, their means of transport at the time. The trench’s water was also used by gardeners. The mills were owned by the families working there and they usually had the name of the

constructors or of those who first operated them. The hardships of the millers’ and their families’ lives, along with the advent of new grinding tools led to the abandonment of the mills. A little further below you’ll find small and big waterfalls with beautiful lakes to swim if you want to, or otherwise you can continue your walk across the ravine towards Kalami. There is so much to view in Kithyra…They say that once you are there it is certain you will come back again…

Day 12, Kithyra - Elafonisos

The epitome of the region, is a small island close by Kithyra, Elafonisos, which was considered in ancient times the "island of deers". The main church in the village is of Agios Spyridon, which is built on a tiny piece of land that is connected by a hand made bridge to the rest of the island. The white powdered sandy beaches are breathtaking and the waters are so crystal transparent blue to remind only of exotic destinations. A a secret Paradise on earth. No words can describe the beauty and the complexity of the island, this is something you have discovered yourself. Time for BBQ and beach leisure… A lazy day on the beach watching ‘trehandiria’ at the horizon… The residents of Elafonissos posses allocating one of the bigger fishing fleets in Greece with boats suitable for coastal mainly fishing. Most of them are wooden "Trehandiri" but also "Paragadia" and other type. They are famous for exceptional woodwork shipbuilding. It is also rumoured that Elafonissos in Southwestern Crete owes the name when at their passage with the Caiques, fishermen of Elafonisos they called the place Lafonisi as even today, the resemblance of colours of sea with splendid gold-green-blue waters of Simos, Saracenico Pounta and Virgin Mary Islands.

Day 13, Elafonisos – Neapolis & Monemvasia

Only a few miles next to Elafonisos is Neapolis to reach in the morning. While its maritime tradition is still much in evidence, Neapoli has also grown to become a popular holiday destination with its clean beaches, a variety of cafes and bars and restaurants specializing in seafood, including the local speciality, grilled octopus. Spread out around the surrounding mountainsides, with spectacular views of the sea, are villages that have retained much of their original character. After lunch we head to Monemvasia and its majestic castle, a living part of the Greek history… The peninsula that is built was named Minoa in Minoan period. Because it was usually attacked of Slaves the Greek of Laconia fortified it and used it as a port and shelter. In 1147 repulsed the Norman’s attacks and in 1249 it was subordinated after sieges of three years, Goulemos Bileardouinos made everything to return it to Byzantium in 1263. For four years it passed to the authority of Pope later the Venetians and finally the Turkish until July 23 1821… You will need soft shoes whilst the best hour for a tour will be in early evening when it is not too hot. The tour on the castle will be an experience of a lifetime. If you have the courage step up to Agia Sophia and be prepared for a thrilling photo-session. After an exhausting day the crew will wait for you on board for a rewarding dinner and great cocktails onto the sundeck.

Day 14, Monemvasia – Hydra

Hydra island - and especially Hydra town - is one of the major highlights of a yacht charter or sailing holiday in the Saronic and Argolic Gulf. Although the island lacks real forests of trees it is very charming and has a very authentic feel since motorized vehicles are forbidden: the main transportation unit is a donkey. Hydra used to be a mondain sea side resort and attracted a selection of poets, film stars, and the rich upperclass of the western world. Nowadays most of this glamour is gone, but the port of Hydra is still very appealing with its beautiful mansions stacked on the surrounding hills. During the main sailing season the port can become very busy, but there are lovely anchorages nearby, notably at the south west of the island and behind Nisos Soupia which is north of Hydra island. It is very popular island because of its extremely picturesque capital, full of red-tiled houses and stone-paved narrow alleys. It used to be the destination of fashionable artists during the sixties and has kept a highly cosmopolitan character. Hydra in Mythology was a nineheaded monster, sister of Medusa. The C-shaped small port with amphitheatrically built houses overlooking to the port is one of the most breathtaking ones. The town looks glamorous like an art-paint, with grey, white and blue colours above the blue of the sea, an exemplar of architectonics and aesthetics. Right and left from the entrance of the port, there are the Parapets with the Canons which protected the town. A School of Art and the Merchant Marine Academy are settled in Hydra, together with Museums exhibiting historical collections oriented with our Revolution. Hydra is one of the most favourite destinations of yachtsmen and artists at the same time. A farewell party on board as this is the last night of this cruise…
